"I have found this nursery to be clean and well run. The staff seem to genuinely care for the children. They participate in the Early Years Vouchers scheme too which is helpful."
"I have both my children at First Steps and have always found the care excellent. The staff are helpful and friendly and obviously enjoy their job and the children. I would recommend it to everyone."
We recognise that the food our children eat affects every aspect of their lives: their mood, behaviour, growth, even their ability to concentrate. Good nutrition is vital to a child's health from building strong bones and teeth to the healthy development of internal organs and general growth.
At First Steps Nursery your child will receive a varied and balanced diet, consisting of a mid morning snack, a two-course Midday meal and Afternoon Tea. Menus are planned for a four week period and changed seasonally. All meals are freshly prepared and cooked on the premises.
Menus are displayed on the notice board in the entrance for parent’s information and may be subject to change.
N.B. Milk feeds for babies are to be provided by parents, these will be stored in a fridge until required. We are registered with the Environmental Health Department who carry out annual inspections in our kitchen.
Our nursery children grow their own organic fruit and vegetables in their allotment, while learning about the food cycle, the environment and what is healthy foods and not so healthy foods. All the children participate in cooking activities and help to prepare the fresh fruit and vegetables for the morning snack bar, therefore encouraging the children to taste different healthy foods.
Our Nursery is regularly inspected by the local authorities, to ensure we are meeting standards.
